Rev Paul Stow

Gave my life to Christ in 1992 at the age of 33, and after a period of ‘church searching’, I and my family who are also Christians, eventually settled at Earls Hall Baptist Church, Westcliff on Sea. In the years that followed I became heavily involved in the life of the church leading Housegroups, Alpha courses and outreach initiatives to our local community, and it was during this time that I sensed God’s calling into Christian Ministry.

My employment at the time was as a Manager with Nat West Bank in the City of London, but in 1997 I left the bank after 21 years to enter into full time Theological Studies lasting 3 years at the London Bible College (LBC). This resulted in me obtaining a degree in Christian Doctrine and during my time at LBC, it became clear that the Lord was leading me into Baptist Ministry as a full time Pastor. This required me to attend further studies for 2 years at Spurgeon’s Baptist College in South London resulting in a Diploma in Pastoral Studies and following a period of probation, I was finally accepted as a Baptist Minister.

At the end of my studies with Spurgeons I took up the post of Associate Minister with Earls Hall with specific responsibility for youth work, outreach to the local community, leading Bible studies and preaching, and in 2006 God called me to Hadleigh Baptist Church as their Minister where I have remained to this day. During the years I have been here we have witnessed God bless the church in so many ways – especially numerically – and the average Sunday morning attendance is now around 100 which includes many children of infant and primary school age.

Married to June, we have 2 grown up children Robert and Lisa. Lisa is married to Matthew and they have 2 beautiful identical twin girls Molly and Amelia born in 2013 and Oliver born in 2018. Robert married Emma in October 2015 and as I did with Lisa and Matthew, I had the privilege of conducting their marriage.  Along with Matthew, I am a Season Ticket Holder with Southend United Football Club and I try and support the club as much as I can.
