The next tranche of Bunk beds have arrived

Funding for 60 bunk beds

Sometime ago we were made aware by Samson that the Government authorities in India were pushing towards him providing better bedding for the children in the orphanage. The overall cost is £7,000 and the intention is to approach this in three phases to supply 20 bunk beds in each phase at a cost of £2,340. The good news is that Samson has taken delivery of the first 20 bunk beds and you can see the delight of the children in the photographs. So, Phase 2 begins, and the fund already stands at £1071. Samson is just so grateful for this provision and praising God – he thanks everyone who has donated

Samson distributes Bibles

In a telephone conversation with David Ince in July Samson mentioned that he had received many requests for Bibles and Prayer due to concern over COVID-19 from non-Christians, both Hindus and Muslims and that he was struggling with demand.

A figure of 400 NIV Bibles in Telugu was agreed as a sensible amount and a supplier – OM Books based in Hyderabad agreed to supply and deliver at a cost of £1,000.

This cost was met by generous donations from the churches involved in the Indian Orphanage Project

They were supplied together with free evangelistic literature, also in Telugu via the George Verwer Fund under Operation Mobilisation. Due a favourable exchange rate 474 Bibles were supplied. The Bibles will be revered by those who receive them as even in a largely Hindu country the Bible is still regarded as a holy book.

We have prayed for Samson as he distributes these Bibles and the literature – that the Bibles will be of great blessing to the recipient – that they may come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour – that there will be much rejoicing in heaven. All the distribution completed under the difficulties posed by the COVID 19 crisis.

Samson’s trip to Koya

Samson distributes Bibles and Christian booklets/literature – and that non-Christians, Hindus and Muslims may come to know the Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Last week Samson took a 500-mile overnight round (12 hours travelling) trip to a remote part of India where the Koya people live very basically. He trusts to distribute Bibles to as many as will receive, as well as providing some used clothes and some food. Samson feels led to undertake this mission albeit that travel expenses have yet to be met.

Orphanage during COVID

One look at our television screens tells us that COVID is rife amongst India’s 1.3 billion population.

Despite the obvious difficulties of living under this crisis Samson, his family and the children remain well.

Samson continues to have a weekly check from Government Officals who remain very satisfied with how the orphanage is being run but they continue to emphasise the need for bunk beds for the children. Samson states that 60 of these beds would be required. This is a major undertaking and the subject of much prayer amongst the member churches of the Indian Orphanage Project.

Despite their difficulties the children sem happy as evidenced by these videos
