Items for Prayer for Ukraine:

Pray for all the People of Ukraine – for their fear and concerns as to what the future holds. Particularly for women and children who have fled for the borders for sanctuary in other countries and for husbands who have gone back to take up arms as civilians and fight. 

Pray for Pastors and Christian leaders who face a mighty struggle to calm people and give people hope. Pray for them to know Gods peace in an environment of bombs, shooting and the atrocities of all our war. Help them as some establish ‘safe houses’ offering shelter and sustenance to those who are caught with nowhere to go and for a supply of provisions which will otherwise quickly run out. 

Pray for the war to cease. For Gods mighty arm to reach out and stop this oppression and that Putin will be stopped in his tracks. Particularly that the nuclear threat might be just that and nothing else. That God would also enter his heart and mind and bring this mad man to his senses, just as you dealt with King Nebuchadnezzar and brought him down to the point where he ate grass as the ox.

Pray for world leaders and particularly for a show of strength and united support for the Ukrainian president. Ukraine has had a chequered past but it is a sovereign nation and does seem to want to allow its people freedom and democratic rights. Pray leaders might see it is their duty to support such a country and give them wisdom in how best to offer this support. Pray particularly for Boris Johnson amidst the other pressures to be a sound source of reason. 

Pray for those who have already lost loved ones. Who are striving to overcome sadness and despair in their loss and especially those who have no one obvious to turn to. 

Pray for doctors and nurses who will dealing with casualties probably on both sides of the conflict but will give themselves tirelessly to the saving of lives. Pray stocks of medical supplies hold up and that they get supplies through despite the increasingly difficult circumstances. 

Pray for the American missionary Saren who was helping with women and children who were leaving and has now entered Poland and Valery who was setting up a Christian Refuge to help all those they can who are left behind. Pray for Kulynchenko Baptist leader who asks ‘please pray for disciple making in the country, for the safety of our people, and generosity in the midst of war.’

Pray Christian leaders in this and other western countries that they might present spiritual guidance and wisdom. We know this is usually restricted to major church leaders from CofE and possibly RC. Churches but pray that other leaders like those of the Evangelical Alliance, the Baptist Union and FIEC also get a voice and contribute wisdom to the discussions. 

Pray for our government and the Defence Dept specifically that they will make the right decisions and despite the reduction that there has been in our defence budget and all the implications that brings, that we will be able to help Ukraine in the best way we can. Pray for all ministers who will influence decisions that God will impart wisdom and answers to our prayers. 

Please pray for Tanya and her husband who fled the fighting in the east a few years back and are now in the thick of it again! Pray for all who are having to flee their homes and leaving everything they own behind and will likely end up refugees either in their own country or somebody else’s!

Please pray for pastor Yuri who is driving people back and forth between the capital Kiev and a safer place. Pray also for those in countries adjacent to Ukraine who can offer hospitality and accommodation to those who have managed to flee the country. 

Pray for the proposed meeting between Russian leaders and the President and leadership of Ukraine hopefully going ahead on the boarders of Belarus and Ukraine. Pray that this might allow talks which will not end in stalemate but find a peaceable solution. Pray that although these talks have stalled that they may still take place.

Pray particularly for children who are caught up in this terrible war that they may not be too traumatised and may come through this without too much damage both physically and mentally. 

Pray for any aid agencies that operate in the country that there contacts and people may be kept safe and that they may be conduits for relief and supplies to be distributed as needed. That equipment medical supplies and relief aid gets to the Ukrainian people and not intercepted by the Russians.

Pray for the Russian soldiers that they may be uncomfortable with being ordered to fire on civilians and send bombs and rockets towards residential buildings. We thank you for those that have already shown signs of this by emptying their fuel tanks on the ground so they cannot proceed further. Pray for the young conscripts to know your will rather than the will of their leader and see this war as unjust and an act of genocide.

Pray for the Russian people and those that are protesting that this is not their war and may it be that many join them in that protest. Pray this might reach the ears of President Putin and that he might not be oblivious to the feelings of his own people but will recognise his folly and pull his troops back.

Pray that God may be preeminent and that this war will not see many more deaths but rather a peaceful ceasefire while talks take place.
